Green living

We think sustainable. We build responsibly.

Lakefield will be BREEAM EXCELLENT and Green Home certified. It was a green home designed to pursue the highest environmental protection measures, for the health and wellbeing of our residents.

Our environment is precious, so we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint and conserving our resources—light, heat, water, and energy. We make choices that help you and we “pay it forward” by sharing the benefits and savings

At Lakefield, design and construction are all as sustainable as possible.

Natural wood and stone, living walls, green outdoor areas, and organic rooftop terraces are just part of this. Resident health and happiness are catered for with running tracks, children’s playgrounds, and a yoga pontoon.

Bicycle, scooter, and car-sharing systems will encourage sustainable transport. Underground containers away from the view will maximize recycling.

Why is Lakefield a green building?

Why design and build green?

Globally the built environment accounts for:

  • 17% of freshwater consumption 25% of wood harvest
  • 33% of CO2 emissions
  • 30-40% of energy use
  • 40-50% of raw materials used

The building sector also has the highest potential to mitigate GHG emissions cost-effectively; it holds huge opportunities to stimulate economic growth and directly impacts our health and well-being.

Environmental assessment methods, such as BREEAM and GREEN HOMES, aim to reduce the impact of buildings on the environment through the early design and development stages, construction stages, and the building’s life span.

What is BREEAM?

BREEAM stands for “Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method”. BREEAM is the most widely used environmental assessment method for buildings and sets the standard for best practices in sustainable design.

What are Green Homes?

Green Homes is the most robust international certification system, designed specifically to improve the residential sector. It is internationally recognized and encourages the construction of better quality, healthier housing with financial benefits for the occupants. Currently, Green Homes is the only taxonomy fully compliant certification standard.

What is NZEB?

NZEB stands for “Nearly Zero Energy Building” certification. It signifies a project’s remarkable energy efficiency, with minimal use of conventional energy sources and a strong reliance on renewables. This certification underscores a commitment to sustainable building practices and environmental stewardship.
